Goals The goals of integrating a coaching element into the Leadership Academy include the following:
Enrich the overall experience for the Academy participants
Provide confidential career development advice and other support for each of the Academy participants
Enhance the organizational and professional network of the participants
Renew and refresh the senior manager/coaches
Description To provide a one-to-one coaching element to the Leadership Academy, each Academy participant from the local government agency will be matched with the Chief Executive, the Assistant Manager, or a Department Head from the agency. The Chief Executive from a participating agency will approve the matches and provide no later than November 17 the names and contact information of the coaches to Eileen Beaudry, Director, email@example.com.
The senior managers/coaches will attend an orientation session. Attending one of the orientation sessions is a requirement for serving as a coach.
It is expected that coaches and Academy participants will meet informally once per month for an hour starting after the second session for a total of at least three sessions. These sessions will be informal and confidential exchanges.
At the discretion of the coach, the coach may invite the participant to an appropriate internal or outside professional meeting.
Responsibilities Agency: The participating agency will identify the senior managers/coaches from their organization prior to the orientation session. In addition, the agency is responsible for making the one-to-one matches and notifying Eileen Beaudry.
Coaches: The senior managers/coaches will attend the orientation session and meet with their designated Academy participants for at least three sessions. The coaches will be invited to the Graduation Ceremony as well as a debriefing session in August.
